STRIKE UP THE BAND, THE MUSIC MAN IS COMING TO TOWN!
Unquestionably one of the most beloved shows of all time, The Music Man opens The Production Company’s Season 2002. Filled with hit tunes and wonderful characters, The Music Man is the endearing story of travelling salesman Harold Hill, who visits a small Iowa town in 1912 where he meets and falls in love with the willful librarian Marian Paroo.
With his fast-talking style, “Professor” Harold Hill convinces the town that unless they adopt his revolutionary music program, “The Think System”, the morale of its youngsters will be forever doomed. He cons the parents into buying instruments and expensive uniforms in order to form the River City Boys Band. Chaos ensues as Hill’s credentials are called into question.
This all-American family musical stars Rob Guest (Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables) as Harold Hill and Fiona Benjamin (Crazy for You) as Marian Paroo. Nancye Hayes (Funny Girl) guest stars as Mrs Paroo with Philip Gould (Wizard of Oz, Annie) as Marcellus, Harold’s old friend and former partner in crime. Robyn Arthur (Beauty and the Beast, The Boy from Oz) will play Mrs Shinn, the Mayoress.
It features an entire score of classic hit songs including Til There Was You, Gary, Indiana, Lida Rose, Trouble and of course, Seventy-six Trombones.
